Ganbina participant stories

Eddie

Eddie started working with Ganbina when he was 12 years old and today, he is enrolled on our three year Leadership Program for 16 to 18 year olds.

"Ganbina have shown me how to get where I want to be with my schooling and they have helped me sort out my goals and career aspirations along the way."

As well as studying VCE and VCAL classes at Shepparton High School , Eddie is undertaking a two year traineeship at the NAB to gain his Certificate II in Business. His long term goal is to study music and dance at the Victorian College of the Arts.

Mariah

Mariah completed her Certificate III in Business with the Department of Justice. She now works there full time as a Community Corrections Officer.

"Ganbina pretty much saved my life. If I hadn’t got involved with them as a teenager, I would have been going down the wrong path entirely. They gave me the courage and support to realise my potential.

"Through my work, I want to help people understand that there are ways to undo what they have done and become better people."

Blade

Blade is studying for his Certificate III in Sport & Recreation and his Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning at the Academy of Sport, Health & Education.

"I would love to become a PE teacher when I complete my studies. It would be great to work with kids in the community that I live in.

“I have really enjoyed the work placement programs I have done so far in schools, helping to manage after school care programs and providing one on one support to indigenous students.

"It’s great to help the kids be more involved in their study and sport."
