
Employment Minister Visits Shepparton Indigenous project Friday, 12 December 2003
In December 2003, the Federal Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, the Hon. Kevin Andrews MP, visited Shepparton to see first hand the progress of indigenous employment initiatives, including ‘Ladders to Success’.
During the visit Minister Andrews met with participants, employers and coordinators of the “Ladders to Success” project. This Structured Training and Employment Project is jointly funded by DEWR and the Victorian Government and auspiced by the city of Greater Shepparton.
The project was initiated by the local Indigenous community, through Koori Economic Employment and Training Agency Inc. and aims to place 100 Indigenous people in private sector employment over the next three years.
Recent successes include the placement of three participants with recycling company Cleanaway.
