Ganbina was the subject of a case study at the third annual “Collaborative Indigenous Policy Development” conference.

Ganbina Executive Officer Adrian Appo described how Ganbina, operating with a volunteer board, has developed and implemented programs that are influencing service delivery practice and styles. He explained that Ganbina’s ‘Stepping Stones’ program has been acknowledged as one of the most effective juvenile justice prevention programs to have operated in Victoria in the last 15 years, whilst the ‘Ladders to Success’ program has demonstrated that quality as well as quantity of placements can go hand in hand. “The Ladders Program is achieving 80% outcomes and is placing more individuals and at a faster rate than any of our other programs” (Bob Harvey, Vic State Manager DEWR).

The delegates came from aboriginal organisations and government departments Australia wide to the conference, held at Cairns Queensland on 26 & 27 July 2004.
