New Ganbina Secretary Shane O'Brien
Ganbina has a revamped and expanded Board to guide the GoulburnValley koori economic employment and training organisation into 2006.
At the AGM, held 24th November 2005, two new faces joined continuing Board members Neville Atkinson (Chairman), Kevin Collie (Deputy Chairman), Justin Mohamed (Public Officer), Julie Fiegert (Treasurer), and Karen Mohamed.
Ganbina’s full-time Executive Officer and former Board member Adrian Appodid not re-nominate so as to strengthen the governance arrangements of the organisation.
Shane O’Brien (Secretary), who is Executive Officer of the North East Victoria Area Consultative Committee, has had a long prior involvement with the former Commonwealth Employment Service in the region. He brings to the Ganbina board a strong understanding of employment issues, and the activities of all three levels of government in the GoulburnValley.
Sue Williams, the Regional Aboriginal Planning Officer with the Department of Human Services, provides the Board with additional in-depth understanding of social issues facing the indigenous communities of the region.
With these appointments, the Board is now at its full strength of seven members, after having functioned for the past two years with only six of the positions filled.
