Project Details
“ Jobs 4 U 2” will, as a partnership between the Indigenous community and significant industry body members, address:
 |
Low retention rates of indigenous students |
 |
Low participation rates of indigenous students in school-industry based programs |
 |
Lack of access to localized employment by indigenous youth. |
“Jobs 4 U 2”will develop ‘1 to 1’ plans that will see:
 |
Year 7 students |
being exposed to jobs and employers |
 |
Year 8 students |
investigating industry sectors |
 |
Year 9 students |
exploring career paths |
 |
Year 10 students |
gaining work experience placements and after- school work |
This process will realize greater connectedness of education and employment for both students and parents, providing for transferal into employment through industry links and progression to “Ladders to Success” for those continuing to Years 11 and 12.
The “Jobs 4 U 2” jigsaw logo indicates that there are jobs for Indigenous students and that we just have to fit the jig saw pieces together.
“Jobs 4 U 2”is being funded jointly by the Telstra Foundation, AMP Foundation through Social Ventures Australia, VicHealth and Coles Myer Ltd.
