Stepping Stones
Funding from the Victorian Government’s Community Jobs Program (CJP) in 2003 enabled twelve young koori men aged between 16 and 23 years to be part of a project that delivered several outcomes:
 |
Employment for a 16 week period, |
 |
Self development, |
 |
Working on a community project. |
The project, partnered with the Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative Limited and the Department of Human Services, developed an audio CD package to be distributed to employers stating the positive relationship in employing koori jobseekers.
In-built training modules allowed the participants to not only function as a productive group, but also to develop a professional package that included mixing of digital sound tracking, interviewing business personalities and overall artwork design.
One great aside was participants writing and recording of the ‘Give us a go’ backing soundtrack for the CD.
