Celebrating over three decades of empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people

Shepparton, Victoria | October 2026

Ganbina is proud to announce that it has been named the recipient of the Beyond Bank Community Group Award, recognising the organisation’s outstanding contribution to children and young people through education, employment, leadership and community development.

Founded in Shepparton and operating for more than 30 years, Ganbina has supported generations of children and young people to complete their education, pursue meaningful employment and realise their aspirations. This award acknowledges not only Ganbina’s achievements as an organisation but also the success, determination and resilience of the young people, families and communities it serves.

CEO Statement

Ganbina Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Cavanagh, said the award belonged to the entire Ganbina community.

“This recognition is a powerful affirmation of what can be achieved when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people are supported and empowered to pursue their goals. While Ganbina’s name may appear on the award, it truly belongs to every participant, family member, Elder, staff member, partner and supporter who has contributed to our journey.”

“For more than three decades, Ganbina has remained committed to creating opportunities and breaking down barriers. We see every day the incredible potential that exists within our young people and communities, and this award reinforces the importance of continuing this work.”

“We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition and remain focused on creating pathways that enable future generations to thrive.”

Board Chair Statement

Ganbina Board Chair, Fallon Wanganeen, said the award reflects the strength of community-led solutions and long-term commitment to positive change.

“This award is a testament to the vision of Ganbina’s founders, past and present leaders, dedicated staff and the many children and young people whose success stories continue to inspire us. It demonstrates the significant impact that Aboriginal-led organisations can have when they are trusted, supported and empowered to deliver outcomes for their communities.”

“The Board is incredibly proud of the work being undertaken across the organisation and grateful to the partners, funders and supporters who share our commitment to improving opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.”

“We celebrate this achievement together and recognise that it strengthens our resolve to continue delivering meaningful and lasting outcomes for our communities.”

A Shared Achievement

Ganbina extends its sincere thanks to its participants, families, Elders, staff, Board members, partner organisations, schools, employers, government agencies and community supporters whose ongoing commitment has contributed to this significant achievement.

As Ganbina looks ahead to 2027 and beyond, the organisation remains focused on delivering its vision of thriving children and young people who are empowered to achieve their educational, employment and life aspirations.

This award serves not only as recognition of past achievements but also as motivation to continue creating opportunities and positive change for future generations.
